A Day With The Pigs (take that how you will)

Ok, everyone. We went and got pigs on Saturday. Bro. Ted took us out to eastern Montana and south from Browning to a place called Rockport Colony (middle of nowhere). That's where we got our pigs, which Bro. Ted will raise until fall and then have butchered for us. It's been a couple of years since we did it, but it is some of the best pork you'll ever eat. Here are some pics of Elijah and Bro. Ted's children with the pigs.

Elijah and Gabe. (These are day-old piglets, not the ones we bought.)

Bro. Ted overseeing the pigs. T.J. in the back, Elijah setting in front of Gabe.

Elijah and Gabe, again.

Here's Gabe, Elijah and Megan after unloading the pigs.

Our pigs, getting settled in the back of the truck.

Here's a picture of our pig. His name is Corky. Sis. Loren gave him a black eye (j/k).

Elijah giving Megan a ride. Can you believe it, Elijah's already picking up girls.

I am sooooooooo in agreement with Kasey on this one! All I can think to say is...

HOW COULD YOU?!?!?

Those poor, helpless, Wilburesque little guys... To have your own children go and see how cute and lovable they are, KNOWING the fate of the poor little guys. Well, that's just WRONG, Jay! WRONG, WRONG, WRONG--you should be ashamed of yourself. I'M ashamed of you. Heartless. You are cruel and heartless.

That being said, you're more than welcome to send me some of that fresh bacon when the time comes--as long as it came from a porker that WASN'T pictured on this site as a friendly little pet-type creature. :-)

okay, sorry. I had to delete two posts. I want to make sure i am okay with the Lord, EVEN on my joking. The little pigs are cute, just don't let me know where that meat is coming from. That was mainly the gist of my first comment.

Remember when the Peter kids were young and had rabbits? Whenever people asked what the rabbits' names were, I said, "Supper and Dinner."
Being a country girl, I knew that if the kids named them, they wouldn't want to eat them. We got them especially for raising meat, teaching the kids responsibility, etc. The kids were great with it all. And they loved rabbit gravy. Yum, yum. :)

I'm glad Elijah is allowed the experience. Maybe next time Alana will get to be there.
